Attiva is a new treatment that features Subdermal Induced Heat (S.I.H.) technology to tighten the skin and restore a more refreshed look. Preparation

After you have scheduled your treatment, there are certain preparations you will need to make to ensure you are ready. To help, Dr. Friedlander will give you a set of detailed instructions. He may direct you to:

  • Manage Certain Medications: Discontinue taking any medications or supplements that may thin your blood. These typically include substances such as ibuprofen, aspirin, or vitamin E.
  • Augment Your Skincare Routine: Modify your skincare routine to avoid using harsher, heavier, or more acidic products, such as retinols, retinoids, chemical peels, or exfoliants, as they may irritate your skin and affect its natural barrier function.
  • Refrain from Tanning: Avoid tanning and tanning products, as well as direct, excessive, or unprotected sun exposure.
  • Arrange Transportation Home: Depending on the extent of your treatment, as well as the location of your treatment, Dr. Friedlander may recommend that you arrange transportation home. This is because Dr. Friedlander will use local anesthesia to ease any potential discomfort.
  • Maintain Your Skin: Protect your skin leading up to your treatment by using generous amounts of sunscreen and moisturizer, especially when leaving the house.
  • Come Prepared: Arrive at your appointment with clean skin that is free from any makeup, skin care products, or facial jewelry.

Procedure

Dr. Friedlander performs each Attiva procedure in our office. The duration of your treatment will vary depending on the size of your treatment area, but you can expect it to range between 30 and 90 minutes. Before beginning your procedure, Dr. Friedlander will administer a local anesthetic to the treatment area to elevate your experience.

Dr. Friedlander will then make a small incision near the treatment area before inserting the Attiva probe inside. This probe will then emit RF energy to gently heat your skin’s underlying tissues and structures to stimulate its contraction and the natural production of collagen. Dr. Friedlander will continue emitting RF energy until he has addressed each of your concerns. From there, he will carefully close the incision and allow you to rest until he is ready to release you.

Throughout the treatment process, Dr. Friedlander will be able to constantly monitor the probe, as well as your skin’s temperature. The Attiva technology also features Double Temperature Control to ensure your comfort and safety during the entirety of your appointment.

Recovery

After your treatment, it is common to experience some swelling, inflammation, and discomfort around the treated areas. These effects are temporary and will subside on their own, but you may also manage them using a cold compress, over-the-counter medications, and resting.

You may return to most of your daily activities on either the same day or the day after your appointment, depending on how you feel. However, Dr. Friedlander will ask you to follow certain guidelines as you heal, including avoiding certain skin care products or limiting any strenuous activities.
