FUPA Liposuction

Conveniently located to serve the areas of Roseville, Antelope, Citrus Heights, Rocklin and Sacramento, CA

Fat Upper Pubic Area (FUPA) liposuction is a cosmetic surgical technique that safely and  effectively removes fat in the lower abdomen. The FUPA is a region of dense fatty tissue located between the hips and the pubic bone and below the belly. The appearance of this area can change over time, particularly as a result of pregnancy-related physical changes, such as after a C-section.

The body sheds fat at different rates from different areas. Through observation and diagnostic testing, doctors have repeatedly observed that their patients do not lose weight in a uniform way. (1) Moreover, when a patient makes significant progress with their weight loss, it can be difficult to get rid of the fatty tissue in the FUPA through diet and exercise alone, which can cause frustration. Liposuction can target these fatty areas and create a more aesthetic contour in the lower abdomen.

FUPAs Don’t Discriminate!

The fact is, both women and men can suffer with a larger-than-average FUPA. In women, a “puffier,” more prominent FUPA is a common occurrence after childbirth, however, both sexes can experience stubborn fat in this area. This can be due to:

  • A genetic predisposition
  • Rapid weight-loss
  • Weight gain
  • Stress and hormonal changes
  • The aging process

What is a FUPA?

Everybody is different, and FUPAs are no exception! Abdomens come in all shapes and sizes and individuals respond differently to physical changes throughout their lives. Sometimes, the lower part of the FUPA is referred to by its medical name, the mons pubis. The mons pubis is usually more prominent in women than in men, and acts as a cushion during sexual intercourse.

For some lucky people, they have relatively little fat in the mons pubis, but for others, it’s an annoying feature they just want to hide with undergarments. What’s more, this bulging isn’t just embarrassing! It can also cause other, more complex problems, such as:

  • Hygiene issues
  • Discomfort under clothing
  • Aesthetic concerns
  • Intimacy difficulties

Find your FUPA solution at Norcal Liposculpture. Dr. Friedlander offers personalized treatment plans that can address unwanted fat in areas that diet and exercise just can’t get to! Reach out to inquire about FUPA liposuction by calling (916) 347-7755 or filling out a quick online contact form.

About Liposuction

No matter how we approach the subject, weight gain can cause issues for anybody. Being overweight or obese increases the risk for other health problems, which can include serious problems such as hypertension (high blood pressure), dyslipidemia (an imbalance of lipids, or fat cells), and atherosclerosis (a thickening and hardening of the arteries). (2) Liposuction is a surgical technique that precisely targets specific areas of the body for permanent fat removal. It can be used in a broad variety of different areas of the body, and is proven to help restore balance to a patient’s physique and improve body contour. (3) The standard method of liposuction employs the use of a device called a cannula. The cannula is a long, thin device that a doctor inserts into the targeted area to disrupt fatty tissue and remove it.

VASER Liposuction

Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy at Resonance (VASER) is an ultrasound lipoplasty device that uses low-level ultrasound and high-efficiency probes to break fat down so it can be easily removed. (2) VASER technology is considered a good choice for patients as many surgeons believe it is a gentler option. The combination liposuction and ultrasound treatment results in less bruising, less bleeding, and less discomfort compared to other liposuction techniques.

Benefits of FUPA Liposuction

FUPA liposuction can help patients resculpt their abdominal aesthetic. It can help smooth the transition between the stomach and the pubic area. Additionally, it can:

  • Reduce discomfort caused by protrusion
  • Permanent removal of fat cells
  • Long-lasting results
  • Improved self-esteem
  • Wider selection of clothing options

The Science of Liposuction

We’re all born with fat cells. But a lot of people don’t realize that when we gain weight, those fat cells don’t actually increase in numbers. In fact, what actually happens is the cells just expand in size. After a liposuction procedure, these fat cells are permanently removed from the body. With a healthy lifestyle, the aesthetic results of liposuction are practically permanent!

Candidates for FUPA Liposuction

If your prominent FUPA has not responded to diet and exercise, and still persists despite a healthy lifestyle, you are a good candidate for FUPA liposuction. If other areas seem fine under clothing, but your FUPA is still noticeable and causing your embarrassment, liposuction may be a great solution!

Although liposuction removes fat, it should not be considered as a weight-loss surgery. To undergo FUPA liposuction, you should be in good general health and at or near your target weight. You should have realistic expectations of what a FUPA liposuction can achieve, and, if you’re a woman, you should be at the end of your child-bearing journey so your new contour will not be affected by further pregnancies.

Personal Consultation

Dr. Friedlander will speak to you in a personal consultation if you want to take the next step to arrange your FUPA liposuction. At this meeting, you will have the opportunity to tell him how the excess fat in your lower abdomen is affecting your life, and what your aesthetic goals are for the outcomes of your FUPA liposuction. Dr. Friendlander will take a brief patient history and examine the area’s skin tightness and the amount of fat to be removed.

Preparation

Before any liposuction procedure, you should discuss your treatment plan at length with your provider. Additionally, you may be asked to do the following things:

  • Get a medical evaluation
  • Adjust your current medications
  • Take additional medications as required
  • Cease smoking before and after your surgery
  • Avoid aspirin, ibuprofen supplements

If you have any questions about any aspect of your treatment Dr. Friedlander is here to answer them! Get in touch by calling his Roseville location at (916) 347-7755 at your convenience.

Procedure

FUPA liposuction is a minimally-invasive in-office procedure that can solve your prominent FUPA woes! Dr. Friedlander performs this type of liposuction using IV sedation. On your treatment date, he will ensure you are comfortable and you will be asked to change into a robe. Once the sedative medication has taken effect, he will make small incisions for the cannula to be placed into. He will then carefully remove the excess tissue slowly and evenly. After your surgery, he may fit a compression garment to keep the area secure.

Recovery & Results of FUPA Liposuction

After your FUPA liposuction, you may find that the area is tender and swollen. Please use the time immediately after your treatment to get plenty of rest and avoid any strenuous activities, particularly those that involve straining the abdominal muscles and twisting the abdomen. It is critical for patients to take care in the initial days after their procedure. After the first few days, you will be able to resume light exercise and daily activities. After around a week, you can resume intimate activities and gentle exercise. Continue to wear your compression garment until directed otherwise.

Maintaining a Healthy Lifestyle

After any liposuction surgery, it is vital that you stick to a healthy lifestyle to maintain your redefined abdomen. Dr. Friedlander urges his patients to stay well hydrated and eat a balanced diet, and continue to take medications as directed after their surgery.

Cost of FUPA liposuction in Sacramento

Your FUPA liposuction cost will depend on a few factors, including how much fat will be removed, and which type of liposuction is used. You will be able to go over the details of your treatment plan with Dr. Friedlander before your surgery and ask any questions about financing your surgery at your personal consultation.
