VASER for the Back

Conveniently located to serve the areas of Roseville, Antelope, Citrus Heights, Rocklin and Sacramento, CA

VASER lipo for the back is a body sculpting procedure that removes fat from the upper and/or lower back for a more streamlined physique. Like other forms of liposuction, VASER is typically performed when exercise and diet are not ridding the body of areas of fat deposits.

The appeal of the hourglass figure on a woman has a hold on many, both front and back view. While the size of the waist does have a big factor in this, many fail to recognize the importance of the shape of the back. Shoulder width is generally around the same width as the hips for hourglass-shaped women, while the waist is smaller and defined. VASER lipo for the back allows women to have a smoother transition from their shoulders to waist.

Since the ideal male contour mimics the letter V, a specialized approach is performed for men. Liposuction is focused mostly on the lower back to achieve this look. For both men and women, liposuction of the upper back can be performed as well to get rid of rolls and create a more streamlined shape. Dr. Jack Friedlander is an experienced surgeon, and one of the leading experts performing VASER lipo, having studied under its pioneers. About

VASER lipo is an ultrasound-assisted liposuction procedure that uses sound energy to disrupt fat deposits for easier suctioning and removal. VASER is an acronym that stands for vibration amplification at sound resonance. That’s because the ultrasound waves create an agitation in the fatty tissue that make the fat easier to remove, so that more fat can be removed more efficiently and with less trauma to the surrounding tissues, which also translates into an easier recovery! Fat cells grow and shrink, but they do not disappear. This is where fat reduction procedures like VASER lipo step in. VASER is able to effectively remove fat deposits from almost anywhere on the body that has become resistant to diet and working out.

About Fat

Body fat is important. It protects our organs, provides energy, controls blood pressure, and regulates temperature to name just a few benefits. We have both brown fat and white fat. Brown fat, or baby fat, is mainly responsible for keeping us warm. It contains large amounts of mitochondria, which burn calories for heat. White fat contains triglycerides which store energy. It is also the fat that surrounds and protects our organs. White fat is important; however, we can gain too much white fat. There are different causes for a significant increase in white fat: slow metabolism, unhealthy diet, age, genetics, and not enough exercise. [1] White fat is the fat we wish to lose through dieting, exercise, or other means like liposuction when it has become resistant to the aforementioned attempts.

Benefits

Because VASER makes fat easier to remove, it’s an excellent choice for removing back fat, which is often denser and more difficult to remove than fat in other parts of the body. And, because less force is needed, more of the surrounding tissues can remain undamaged, making it a safer option with a smoother recovery. [2] VASER harvests a better fat graft than traditional liposuction, so it is an extremely beneficial procedure if you are interested in a fat transfer too.

Candidates

Candidates for VASER lipo of the back are women and men close to their ideal body weight who struggle with shaping their back to their desired figure. These patients have most likely not been able to lose the fat deposits through their own efforts of working out and eating healthy. At the same time, patients must have realistic expectations. VASER lipo is not a weight loss procedure nor can it treat obesity. Also, while some skin tightening can be accomplished, it cannot treat significantly loose skin; this is not the main intention of the procedure.

Preparation

To best prepare for VASER lipo treatment in Sacramento, patients will need to stop smoking and drinking for a couple of weeks prior to the appointment date. NSAIDs should also be discontinued during this time, and any other medications discussed during the consultation. This is to minimize any chance of risk. Since recovery can take a week, patients should make sure they have the proper care in place as necessary. This can include arranging rides to and from surgery and stocking up on groceries. Rest will be important.

Procedure

VASER lipo of the back begins with IV sedation. Tumescent fluid containing saline, epinephrine, and lidocaine is administered to the areas of the back being targeted for additional comfort and to limit blood loss. The VASER cannula is inserted through an incision that is discreetly placed adjacent to the treatment area. The cannula is then moved back and forth. The vibrations and the sound waves released from the device cause air bubbles in the tumescent fluid to grow and shrink which, in turn, help displace and break down the fat deposits. Dr. Friedlander will then remove the unwanted fat, taking care to create smooth, symmetical results..

Recovery

Patients will be able to return home on the day of their appointment. After being treated with liposuction, treated areas are typically red, swollen, and bruised, but you’ll be given pain medication to manage discomfort, and will wear a compression garment as you heal to ensure smooth results and limit swelling. It’s also normal to have some drainage from the residual tumescent fluid at the incision sites. Recovery after VASER is usually less than a week, but this will depend on how much fat was removed and the size of the area that was treated. Patients should plan to take the needed time off of work to rest and recover. Mild exercise can resume once this time period is over, but more rigorous workouts should be paused for at least a month. Taking regular walks during this time will keep the blood flowing and promote the best healing possible.

Results

Results from VASER lipo are instant, although you will probably be a bit swollen in the treated areas. Final results can be seen within six months of treatment. Please note, while the fat cells that were removed will not regenerate, that will not stop the remaining fat cells from growing if you gain weight. It is so important to maintain your new weight after your procedure to keep your back looking artfully sculpted.

Corresponding & Complementary Procedures

Many patients opt to receive VASER lipo in multiple areas. Common VASER treatment areas other than the back include the abdomen, thighs, and arms. If a patients wish for facial rejuvenation in addition to their new figure, Norcal Liposculpture also offers Botox and Juvéderm injections.

Botox is a neurotoxin that temporarily paralyzes the underlying muscle for about three to four months. By doing so, the skin above has a chance to relax and future wrinkles are prevented. Botox is popularly used for frown lines and crow’s feet. Juvéderm is a dermal filler that is used to fill creases and wrinkles and add volume to desired areas. Popular treatments include filling the nasolabial folds, chin augmentation, lip plumping, and cheek contouring.

Cost

VASER lipo is customized to each patient’s needs, and therefore the price varies slightly from patient to patient. FAQ

What does VASER stand for?

VASER stands for “vibration amplification of sound energy at resonance.”

Are all liposuction procedures the same?

No, there are different liposuction devices that utilize different techniques for fat removal. Suction-assisted liposuction is the traditional method. Liposuction technology has greatly advanced since. There is now power-assisted liposuction, laser-assisted liposuction, and ultrasound-assisted liposuction. All of these methods share a basic common goal: fat removal. But as the names suggest, the assisting factors differ. Power-assisted liposuction has a motorized cannula to help dislodge fat. Laser-assisted liposuction uses a laser on the cannula to melt fat deposits. Ultrasound-assisted liposuction delivers ultrasonic waves from the cannula to break up fat. VASER is a form of ultrasound-assisted liposuction and is a popular and effective fat removal procedure.
