Preparation

Little preparation is needed for this treatment. You can count on a streamlined process throughout the preparation, treatment, and after-care process. Dr. Friedlander may ask you not to take Retin A, Refissa, Tazorac, or other exfoliants in the weeks leading up to treatment because they may impact your treatment. Finally, please do your best to avoid extended periods of sun exposure and do not use tanning beds prior to your treatment with Clear + Brilliant.

Procedure

Your Clear + Brilliant treatment will take place in 30 minutes or less. Just before we start, you’ll be given protective goggles to wear. For added comfort, a topical numbing agent may be applied. We’ll begin the process by running a handheld device carefully over the skin. The device emits pulses of laser energy that target the water in the skin cells located in the epidermal layer instead of the skin’s pigmentation. This is why patients of all skin tones can safely enjoy Clear + Brilliant treatment. When the water turns into gas, skin cells turn into vapor. ^[2] As a result, collagen formation begins, and the skin texture starts to improve. After your 30-minute session, you are free to leave the office and enjoy your new results.

Recovery

Little downtime and recovery are expected. Nonetheless, some patients may experience minimal redness and swelling in the treated areas. These will disappear quickly and can be hidden easily with makeup. The skin may have a rough texture, and there will be tiny scabs on the skin. They are only temporary and should fall off after 4-7 days. Please use sunblock and avoid direct sun exposure as much as possible for the first 7-10 days after treatment.

Results

Immediate and progressive changes to the firmness and texture of the skin will be seen in the days ahead. The treatment improves the volume and glow of the skin because the treatment promotes collagen production and elastin growth underneath the skin. In time, your new skin will start to resurface. The dullness, dryness of the skin will disappear, revealing a youthful gleam. Results are yours to enjoy for a few months. Patients are encouraged to schedule additional sessions to maintain results. Up to six sessions will be spaced about four weeks apart to allow results to blossom. Follow-up appointment sessions are scheduled 1-2 times per year or more.
