Abdominal VASER Hi-Def Dr. Jack Friedlander

Abdominal VASER Hi-Def is an advanced form of liposuction that better defines muscle groups, for a coveted “six-pack” look. Surgeons only need to make a couple of tiny incisions to access a large treatment area around the abdomen. They can then insert the thin VASER (vibration amplification of sound energy at resonance) probe to precisely break apart subcutaneous fat just under the skin. With this action, the VASER energy dislodges the fat and minimizes damage during the fat removal portion of the procedure, allowing for a shorter recovery time. (1) With this minimally invasive procedure, patients can resolve stubborn bulges and attain a more athletic figure that highlights muscular definition.

If you are interested in learning about the unique benefits offered by VASER, get in touch with Dr. Jack Friedlander, a surgeon who trained under a co-founder of the VASER Hi-Def procedure in the United States, Dr. John Millard.

With this innovative approach to body sculpting, thousands of patients have left Dr. Friedlander’s office feeling more satisfied and confident with their appearance. Call NorCal Liposculpture in Sacramento at (916) 347-7755 or request a consultation with his contact form today.

The VASER Hi-Definition Difference

Looking and feeling athletic is a hallmark of youthfulness and vitality, and many people strive to attain a body they can feel proud to show off. Though fitness enthusiasts may meticulously plan their meals and workout sessions, an ideal body simply is not achievable for some without surgical intervention. Even with a healthy BMI, some fat deposits may remain, obscuring the results of hard work at the gym. No matter the dedication put into exercise and healthy eating, factors like hormonal changes, stress, the aging process, and genetics all contribute to the way the body stores fat. VASER Hi-Def liposuction is designed for athletic candidates to sculpt a toned, leaner physique. There are many reasons for patients to feel thrilled by the numerous benefits of VASER Hi-Def:

  • It not only sculpts areas of “pinchable” fat, but surgeons can utilize the VASER device to remove fat closely adhered to the abdominal muscles, creating the look of six-pack muscles.
  • For women, surgeons can utilize a more subtle, feminine approach that promotes an hourglass figure with techniques that slim down the flanks.
  • To remove a large amount of fat, surgeons only need to make a few hidden incisions that are less than a centimeter long. (2) Small-volume procedures require even fewer incisions.
  • Incisions leave behind extremely small and typically hidden scars that heal significantly within a year of the procedure.
  • With the application of ultrasonic energy, surgeons can greatly reduce the amount of bruising during the recovery period. (1)
  • VASER liposuction offers permanent results, so long as patients make efforts to sustain their weight.
  • VASER does not use heat or lasers to address fat, but uses ultrasound energy, which causes less trauma to surrounding tissue compared to other methods.
  • With ultrasound, surgeons can remove more fat and less blood during the procedure.
  • At NorCal Liposculpture, Dr. Friedlander performs VASER liposuction using IV sedation so that patients do not have to deal with the effects of general anesthesia.

Ideal Candidates

Prospective patients can undergo VASER Hi-Def liposuction in just about any area of the body, but it is an especially popular means of sculpting the abdominal area. Ideal candidates are looking to attain more muscle definition in addition to a slimmer figure. Dr. Friedlander can tailor your procedure to suit your unique needs and body shape, but you must meet certain criteria. Candidates should be non-smokers or be able to quit temporarily, they should be in overall good health, and at or near a healthy weight. Those with extremely lax skin in the abdominal area may not be able to attain satisfactory results with liposuction, a procedure that only focuses on fat removal, not skin.

Personal Consultation

During your consultation with Dr. Friedlander, he will perform an assessment of your areas of concern and discuss the personalized VASER techniques he thinks you could benefit from. He will ask you about the exact results you would like to achieve and talk to you about what to expect during your recovery. After reviewing your medical history, he will outline what you need to do to prepare, the procedure itself, and the rest and aftercare involved during your recovery. Finally, you will have a chance to ask any pressing questions you may have about the procedure. If interested, you can ask more about alternative options, such as Emsculpt or Renuvion.

Procedure Steps

Before suctioning any fat deposits, Dr. Friedlander will first anesthetize the abdomen and make one or a few tiny incisions. With a slim tubular instrument called a cannula, he will inject a tumescent solution, a fluid that will swell the fatty layer of tissue, prevent blood loss, and numb the area further. After this fluid fully settles in, he will place small skin protectors around the incision to protect the outer skin from the VASER probe. He will then insert the long, thin probe just below the skin, accessing all angles of the treatment area.

As the probe makes contact with this layer of tissue, it triggers cavitation, a process that separates lobules of fat from each other. In this process, the ultrasound provokes the creation of microscopic “bubbles” in between the molecules of tumescent fluid and emulsifies nearby fat cells. As a result, VASER “liquefies” the targeted fat, making it easier to extract with suction. (3) Once exposed to ultrasound energy, Dr. Friedlander will be able to more accurately target small sections of fat on the abdomen to create definitive lines characteristic of a six-pack. He can also thoroughly sculpt the sides and flanks of the abdomen to make a more even-looking, natural result.

Recovery and Results

As soon as you are cleared to go home, Dr. Friedlander will advise you to rest and prioritize recovery. Although your abdominal area may feel sore and swollen, a compression garment will help mitigate these effects and allow the new contours to heal well. You may have surgical drains just beneath the skin to allow any fluid to escape and reduce swelling as quickly as possible. Depending on the extent of the procedure, you should be able to comfortably return to work within a few days, but you should continue to rest and refrain from intense physical activity until at least 4 weeks into recovery. With VASER liposuction, you should expect a more comfortable recovery that causes less bruising than traditional liposuction techniques. Within 4 to 6 months, your skin and subcutaneous tissues will completely settle into their final place, giving you the attractive, athletic look you have always wanted.

Corresponding and Complementary Procedures

Renuvion

Refining your results after liposuction may require an additional procedure with Renuvion, a subdermal device that emits streams of cold plasma energy just under the skin. The plasma pulses heat deep collagen fibers for a fraction of a second, causing them to contract and provide a tighter appearance on the surface of the treatment area. Renuvion treatment stimulates the body to produce new collagen, which occurs over several months following treatment. Renuvion treatment is performed using the same incisions for liposuction and during the same procedure.

FAQ

Does abdominal VASER Hi-Def liposuction tighten the skin?

Since ultrasound converts to thermal energy just under the skin, you may reap some skin-tightening benefits, but it will only produce a mild effect. Refining your results after liposuction may require an additional procedure with Renuvion, a subdermal device that tightens collagen subdermally.

Will I have noticeable scars after abdominal VASER Hi-Def liposuction?

Surgeons make an effort to make the incisions within subtle locations, but overall, the resulting scars are minimal and heal well. Liposuction scars are only a fraction of an inch and typically do not even require suturing. They will fade to almost nothing within a year.

Why is VASER Hi-Def liposuction better?

VASER Hi-Def liposuction is better than traditional liposuction because it utilizes ultrasound waves to break down stubborn fat tissues before extraction. With traditional liposuction, surgeons rip away fat cells from their surrounding connective tissues, causing significant tissue trauma and bleeding, making the recovery more difficult for the patient. VASER allows for a smoother fat extraction process that is less physically strenuous for the surgeon as well. With VASER, surgeons can also eliminate fat from precise areas that are difficult to treat with traditional tumescent techniques.
