About Cellulite and Qwo
Science has yet to discover the underlying cause of cellulite. However, the primary reason for this condition can be blamed on the structure of the fibrous septae. These are narrow, rigid bands of connective tissue that contribute to the appearance of cellulite. These and other tissues are what anchors our skin in place. However, as they pass through the layer of fat to connect to our skin, they shorten, which is what causes the dimpling appearance of cellulite. Unfortunately, this problem affects women much more than men.
Until recently, treating cellulite often meant correction through ineffective or invasive means. Thanks to Qwo, treating cellulite is a breeze. This quick, simple injection is a viable alternative to incisions and long recovery times. Qwo contains collagenase clostridium histolyticum (CCH), a combination of enzymes that work to break down the fibrous septae, increase collagen production, and smooth the skin. Qwo works in three ways:
- Targets the fiber band below the skin
- Redirects fat cells to fill in surface irregularities
- Stimulates collagen production to firm the skin

Preparation and Procedure
Qwo is a straightforward solution to treat cellulite. To prepare for your Qwo treatment, you will only need to do a few, simple tasks to ensure an optimal procedure. Patients will be asked to pause certain medications and supplements such as anti-inflammatories for 1-2 weeks leading up to treatment. Their consumption may increase bruising during the recovery process. Please make sure to supply Dr. Friedlander with a current list of any medications you are taking.
Dr. Friedlander, or one of our trained staff members will administer the Qwo treatment into the targeted areas. After marking the dimples to be treated, patients will lie comfortably on their stomachs. Qwo is then injected directly into cellulite dimples on the buttocks using a very fine needle—up to 12 dimples per buttock, or 24 dimples in total per session. Once injected, the enzyme in Qwo is thought to target collagen types 1 and 3 to release the septae, ultimately releasing the dimple, smoothing the fat distribution, and making the skin appear smooth. A course of treatment with Qwo consists of three injection sessions, each spaced 21 days apart. Qwo is a fast procedure that only takes 15 minutes, and can treat up to 12-24 cellulite dimples in one session.
Fast Recovery with No Downtime Necessary
No downtime is needed after your Qwo treatment. Patients can resume their day as soon as their session is finished. Most patients will experience bruising and usually mild swelling at the injection site, which may last 1-2 weeks.
For the best results, Qwo treatments are usually scheduled in a sequence of three sessions spaced three weeks apart. This is because the formula works gradually, so you may not see results right away. In the weeks following your final injection session, you’ll be able to enjoy your final results. Firmer skin is yours to enjoy, and you’ll be ready for a pleasant day at the pool or beach. Patients report long-lasting to permanent results: Qwo removes the fibrous septae that cause cellulite, and since they don’t regenerate, the results are yours to keep.
