I am originally from Brooklyn, New York, but was primarily raised in the Midwest with most of my formative years spent in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Being keenly interested in science from a young age, I realized I wanted to become a surgeon when I was twelve years old after watching live surgery on PBS-from that point on, I knew that surgery was for me. After attending my first two years of undergraduate studies at the University of Alberta, I completed my Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Arizona with a major in microbiology and minor in chemistry, graduating Magna Cum Laude. I went on to medical school and received my Doctor of Medicine degree from The Chicago Medical School in 2001. Following medical school I began the five year residency in General Surgery, finishing in 2006 as Chief Resident at Rush University Medical Medical Center in Chicago. I was very privileged to be a Rush resident as this program provides surgical services to the renowned Cook County Hospital(now The John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County). This experience was invaluable in that I was exposed to not only an incredible range of surgical diseases in advanced stages rarely seen today, but to a large volume of penetrating and blunt trauma as well.
After completing my training, I moved to California and went in to private practice as a general surgeon in 2006. In 2008, I joined Dr. Gulbrandson, Dr. Braley, and Dr. McNabb in forming Roseville Surgical Alliance and have enjoyed a busy surgical practice. While treating myriad surgical issues such as hernia, breast, skin, and gastrointestinal diseases-both benign and malignant, as well as traditional open, laparoscopic and robotic surgery, I realized that I truly enjoy the artistic aspects of surgery. This led me to an interest in liposuction and body sculpting, and I have been amazed at not only the incredible results these procedures achieve, but on how happy these results make my patients. The impact of the psychological changes I have witnessed in most patients after undergoing these procedures has been inspiring and far greater than I anticipated. I strive for perfection in every case I perform and my goal is to ensure not only a great outcome, but to make sure my patients have realistic expectations-and then meet or exceed those expectations. The safety of my patients is my paramount concern and is never compromised. All procedures are performed in our office-based surgery center, which received the Gold Seal of Approval from JCAHO(The Joint Commission on Accreditation for Healthcare Organizations), which is the accrediting agency for hospitals in the United States. Our JCAHO approval ensures that we meet the highest standards and adhere to strict guidelines and regulations designed to optimize patient safety. I have been honored to receive the Patients Choice Award annually since 2008, and the Compassionate Doctor Award annually since 2010.
